Baseball legend Pete Rose reinstated: path to hall of fame finally cleared

After decades of controversy, MLB lifts lifetime ban on baseball’s all-time hits leader just months before his death

Pete Rose, considered one of the best players to ever play the game, was banned from Major League Baseball in 1989 for placing bets on the Reds while managing them.

Rose played with three different teams during his 24-year career. He played for the Cincinnati Reds from 1963 to 1978, the Philadelphia Phillies from 1979 to 1983, the Montreal Expos in 1984, and returned to the Cincinnati Reds later in 1984 until he retired in 1986. During his career, Rose won three major league titles as a player.

Rose died in September of 2024 from hypertension.
