Jeanie Buss sells majority ownership to Dodgers’ Mark Walter after 45-year reign
Los Angeles, California – ESPN is reporting that Jeanie Buss, majority owner and governor of the Los Angeles Lakers, is in talks to sell her family’s majority stake in the NBA team.
The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly been valued at $10 billion, and Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walter is set to make the purchase. Jeanie Buss will maintain her position with the team as governor.
Buss’s father, Jerry Buss, purchased the Los Angeles Lakers in 1979 for $65 million. Since that time, the Lakers have won 11 NBA Championships—more than any other team in the league during that span.
Mark Walter is not only the owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, but also owns the Los Angeles Sparks, holds stakes in the Billie Jean King Cup, the Cadillac Formula 1 team, and the Professional Women’s Hockey League.
